St. Peters Church Lumino

It is the  Headquarters of Samia Bugwe South Archdeaconry. Brief history

In 1921  the  Church  Missionary Society (CMS) who were following  the  foot path  of  the first Bishop of Equatorial Africa Rt. Rev. James Hannington in collaboration with  the  local chiefs   of  Lumino  (Abatabona) set   up    the    first    church    in

Lumino. The first lay      readers were Odimbe and Abenego Egondi     in    1921.     Rt.    Rev. James  Hannington The  church established an elementary vernacular sub  grade  school  at the church  in 1924.  In 1956  the church   acquired  parish   status and   curved    from   the    grater Busia parish, consisting of all the present parishes Samia  Bugwe South Archdeaconry.
