Butaleja Church

St. Pauls Church, Butaleja Parish   started  in   1909.    The first  lay ready  was  Petero Daki Gesa.  In 1918  Butaleja  Church opened   Butaleja    sub    grade Day school.  From 1909  – 1937

Butaleja was under Nabumali parish.  The  parish  priests  who used to come to Butaleja Church for pastoralisation were  Rev. Kezekia  Bekabye  1925  – 1930 and   Rev.  Paulo   Kaggwa  from

1931  – 1937.

In  1937   Butaleja  Church became a  parish  in  charge   of all the Anglican churches in Bunyole.  The  first  parish  priest

was Rev. Asanasiyo  Malingha

it became a parish in 1937.

In 1943  when  Rev. Asanasiyo Malingha  mobilized  the Christians   in  Bunyole   to construct a big modern church by them, the new church was opened in 1957  by the  Bishop of  Upper  Nile Rt. Rev. Charles Usher Wilson Luciana

In  1986   Bunyole  county became  an  Archdeaconry and the first Archdeacon was Ven Ven.Rev. Canon Zeblon Jogiri Munghesi

In 2017  west  Bunyole Archdeaconry was  created and the  first  Archdeacon was  Ven. Rev. Capt. George  Olowo.

In 2022  the Archdeacon of Bunyole was Ven Rev. Canon Simon Peter Onyango
