About bukedi diocese
Bukedi Diocese was established on the 1st October, 1972 when we had the first Bishop enthroned, the Late Yona Okoth who later became the 5th Archbishop of Church of Uganda. Thereafter other Bishops came on board for whom I am thankful and I appreciate the far they brought this Diocese. Notably, the Rt.Rev. Dr.N.E. Okille, the 2nd Diocesan Bishop, who steered this Diocese for 28 years.
Bukedi Diocese was curved out of Mbale diocese in 1972. It is currently headed by The Rt. Rev. Samuel George Bogere Egesa. Its archdeaconries are; West Budama, Bunyole, Samia Bugwe, Tororo, West Budama South, Kibuku, West Bunyole, Butebo, Samia Bugwe South and Samia Bugwe Central.
